This competition season started no differently than any other.? Everyone on the team bought their ingredients to make their first rub of the year in hopes to create the perfect combination of spices.? As always, everyone bought a few “store bought” rubs to try as well.? We know, we know, some?folks believe?a true BBQ guy is supposed to make his own rub and not use store bought.? We’ve been buying and trying store bought rubs since we started and always will?-?especially pre-season.? You just never know what you might find.

The one thing we discovered about the rubs that we liked the best is this; the granual sizes of the ingredients were all relatively the same size.? Does this matter?? We believe it does.? It is our opinion and we’re convinced that it’s fact that if the ingredient particles are all the same size, they stand out more individually in the rub.

Next time you go rub shopping we suggest you take a close look at the ingredients in the container.? We’ve been purchasing only those with the same particle sizes and they have been far?superior.
